Why We Started This
Search for hotel advice in Barcelona and you’ll find plenty of it. Most of it written by someone who spent three nights in the city, or worse, never left their desk at all. Business travelers and the agents who book for them deserve better than recycled listicles and outdated star ratings.
Barcelona City Hotels was built to fix that. We’re locals who’ve called Barcelona home for over 20 years, with more than 7 years working inside the city’s hotel industry. We know this city the way only people who live and work here can: which neighborhoods actually make sense for a client meeting near Diagonal, which “5-minute walk to the metro” claims are honest and which aren’t, and which hotel bars are quiet enough for a real conversation over dinner.
Our Mission
We give travel agents and business travelers accurate, current information on Barcelona’s hotels, nothing more, nothing less. No sponsored placements dressed up as reviews, no outdated information copied from a hotel’s own marketing.
What We Actually Evaluate
Every review on this site is built around what matters to business travel, not leisure travel:
- Comfort for business stays – workspace quality, WiFi reliability, room layout for someone working from a laptop for days at a time
- Proximity to business hubs – real walking times to the districts and buildings that matter, not marketing-department estimates
- Transportation – metro access, airport transfer times, and how easy the hotel actually is to reach with luggage during rush hour
- Meeting and event facilities – whether a hotel can genuinely host a client meeting or small event, not just whether it has a room called a “boardroom”
- Entertainment for business dining – where to reasonably take a client for dinner or lunch nearby, and which hotel restaurants and bars are suited to it
Who We Are
This site is run by people who work inside Barcelona’s hotel industry day to day, not travel bloggers passing through. Over 20 years living in this city and 7+ years working in its hospitality industry means our reviews are grounded in ongoing, current knowledge of how these hotels actually operate, not a single visit written up months or years ago.
